Your Role:

CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for an enthusiastic and motivate person to join the Shared Services Center. Established in October 2003, this Center provides a one-stop shop for all the Information Technology, Human Resources and Finance transactional and administrative support needs within the Corporation.

As an HR Transaction Specialist, you are responsible for accurate and timely processing of complex transactions and those requiring in depth lengthy analysis, including retroactive changes to employee records, implementation of negotiated grievance settlements and updating of the various service dates. Using various reports, you will analyze employee data base to identify pay errors and makes appropriate corrections. You will be responsible for analysis and recovery of overpayments made to employees. This includes transactions for retroactive changes to employee pay records requiring pay revisions, settlement of grievances, implementation of negotiated settlements, regular Corporate bulk processes like year end payment of annual leave and salary reviews, calculation and input of various employee service dates. You may be required to process regular transitions during peak periods to ensure processing service levels are maintained.

You would verify transactions received to ensure compliance with CBC policies, collective agreements, current tax legislation and labour standards, ensure that all transaction requests are properly authorized and documented and follow-up with requestors or local Human Resources offices as required when documentation is incorrect, incomplete or unclear.

You are also responsible for analysis and recovery of overpayments made to employees, researche reasons, and backup documentation, contact employee, discuss repayment schedule, provides written confirmation of recovery to employee and ensure documentation is sent to file.

You develop reports to audit integrity of data input into the HR Information System and work closely with other Shared Services areas such as Time Capture, VIP Support, Payrolls and Schedulers to ensure pay information is properly entered in system.

Your Profile:

  • Requires post secondary education in Human Resources.
  • Requires 3-5 years of related experience at CBC or similar organization in related field.
  • Needs advanced knowledge of various software to enable analysis of data – ie pivot tables, Q&E
  • Bilingualism is essential.
  • Strong oral and written skills in both official languages.
  • Must be able to clearly and concisely document processes and results of file analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of the Corporation’s policies and collective agreements, including the proper application of the relevant provisions is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of VIP or other pay processing system.
  • Accounting knowledge or experience an asset.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to manage several priorities and meet multiple, tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion, diplomacy and tact in communications with staff and/or managers.
    Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Good analytical skills and strong ability to solve a variety of problems.
  • Strong judgment, initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Excellent customer service skills and good team player.
