The Media Sales & Marketing department is looking for a Manager, Brand Development, Sports who in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Brand Development, is responsible for managing the execution of marketing strategies and brand guidelines for existing services and new products to meet or exceed revenue objectives. Providing the Sales group with actionable programming information in order to support revenue objectives, making recommendations concerning scheduling/content and tabling concerns with the appropriate programming departments are also responsibilities associated with this position.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand Development, CBC Sports, your duties will include identifying special promotional opportunities, working with Sales and Programming to determine brand and category opportunities within existing and new shows. You will provide Sales with relevant programming details, broadcast/sponsor rights agreements and property partnership plans as well as develop integrated brand plans as required. You will present issues and/or opportunities to the Senior Manager, Brand Development and the appropriate program head and provide strategic recommendations and negotiate conditions to ensure maximum revenue is achieved. You will collaborate on, negotiate and coordinate strategic plans and activities with internal partners regarding promotion, events and advertising opportunities to enhance the value proposition for external partners. Additionally, you will develop business plans that include revenue generating initiatives ensuring the compliment the CBC brand positioning and overall Media Sales & Marketing initiatives.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Post secondary degree/diploma or equivalent with an emphasis on business or marketing preferred
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Strong background in media buying and/or planning
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills to properly asses market and internal date
  • Ability to think and act strategically to ensure the right activities are conducted in support of business objectives
  • An understanding of integrated marketing in order to help develop successful, integrated media vehicles for the market
  • Strong project management skills and ability to communicate to multiple stakeholders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of basic research data (i.e. BBM diary, Nielsen market and Network People Meters) and qualitative research tools (i.e. PMB, MicroBBM, Compusearch, Media Master) and other tools indicating market position (i.e. Squad and Nielsen Monitor).
  • Extensive computer knowledge including Microsoft Office products, Account Planning products and in-house programs (i.e. RMS, Pirates, ISIS/PM/REPS, etc.)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
    Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative and to effectively solve problems
