What You Do:
- Reporting to the Business Manager, Network Programming, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of Network Programming Office financial resources including the development, preparation and administration of all departmental budgets.
- You will consolidate, analyze, and summarize expense forecasts, investigate causes of significant budget-to-actual variances, summarize findings and prepare recommended corrective action where required.
- You will have demonstrated success in your role by effectively preparing, administering, forecasting and analyzing the Operations budgets.
- In your role as the Expense Analyst you will provide reliable and timely financial advice and assistance to all NPO budget heads in the preparation and administration of their budget and salary forecasts.
- In conjunction with the Business Manager, you will assist in the development, preparation and analysis of the annual and multi-year business plans that support the achievement of short and long range financial, operational and programming objectives.
- You will also manage programs and systems to track, control, report on and improve the department’s utilization of its financial and other resources.
What You Bring:
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- A University degree in a business related field is preferred
- At least 2 years of directly related experience in a financial analysis capacity
- Recognized accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA) is preferred or candidate must be working towards a designation.
- Solid working knowledge of accounting principles, theories and practices
- Ability to translate researched information into relevant, actionable analyses
- Ability to drill down to a micro level of detail when performing financial analysis
- Strong interpretation, analytical abilities and aptitude for detail
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with computer software systems (specifically Microsoft Office)
- Demonstrable working experience using SAP and Cognos.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to design and revamp complex spreadsheets for the purposes of financial analysis, special projects and established monthly and quarterly reporting for use by senior departmental management and programmers.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with unrelated tasks and respond to short lead-time demands is essential
- Effective problem-solving skills to determine an action plan
- Demonstrate initiative and good judgment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to convey instructions and procedures clearly and effectively with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to explain budgeting and forecasting requirements and processes to individuals who may not have the appropriate expertise
- Moderate requirements for extended workdays
- Bilingualism is an asset
