We are looking for an experienced host for our television news program "CBC News Calgary Late Night". The Host of Calgary Late Night is a key player in a team dedicated to winning the news battle in Calgary.
- An exceptional journalist and leader, you thrive in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of breaking news.
- The ability to go live and "off script" at a moment’s notice is highly valued. In this full time temporary position, you will contribute to the planning, design and organization of the program, propose program ideas, conduct interviews off-air and interact with program participants.
- Reporting to the News Director, you’ll play an integral editorial and leadership role in preparing and presenting the daily news.
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- A journalism degree or equivalent.
- Five years of comparable and relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge of the broadcasting industry and an understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to Calgary and to daily news.
- Excellent reporting, interviewing and writing skills.
- Ability to generate original story ideas and creative treatments.
- An engaging on-air presence.
- The ability to evaluate and analyze a broad range of issues, and to tell those stories with clarity and in a manner that relates the stories to the people affected by them.
- Strong presentation style and ease with live work.
- Able to present material with credibility and authority in a range of situations including live events and breaking news.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and team playing skills.
- Creative, flexible and self-motivated.
