Your Role:

Provides specialized administrative and clerical support to an individual, unit, department or operation in the area of banking activities and cash management. Work is subject only to general review so there is opportunity for independent judgment and decision-making within the parameters of established operating procedures. Work may involve co-ordinating the activities of others inside or outside the unit, or assigning and checking the work of junior employees.

Key tasks:

  • Reconciles main corporate bank accounts on a daily basis. Investigates discrepancies to ensure that there are no fraudulent activities in the Corporate bank accounts.
  • Ensures all banking and cash management transactions are complete, accurate and timely.
  • Prepares daily cash forecast by accumulating relevant data from a variety of sources (ex SAP reports, internal emails).
  • Creates, updates and maintains large and complex spreadsheets – for example, those supporting finance, banking and investment transactions and/or systems interfacing with external agencies. Adapts spreadsheets to changing requirements.
  • Provides advice and guidance to users to ensure that they derive maximum benefit from the information and systems available. Compiles information and prepares reports, either as part of routine reporting requirements or in response to special requests from within or without the unit, department or operation.
  • Investigates departmental or administrative problems within area of expertise.
  • Researches and compiles information and data to arrive at a solution and either implements, if within accepted parameters, or recommends to the appropriate level of authority.
  • Examines financial reports, activity reports or other similar documents (including banking and investment transactions and worksheets) to identify errors or discrepancies and takes necessary action within established parameters to resolve the matters. Action includes initiating or verifying corrections to banking errors or preparing, entering and posting SAP journal vouchers.
  • Administers complex processes dealing with payment issues such as stop payments and authorizations to replace cheques.

What you bring:

  • Graduation from Community College with an accounting or business administration diploma or the equivalent experience.
  • B Comm or third level towards a CMA or CGA designation an asset
  • Good quality of written and oral communication skills in English and functional French.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in finance or banking.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Windows-based software (i.e. Excel, Word) and Internet webportals.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset, General Ledger and Bank modules in particular.
  • Familiarity with CBC Shared Services operations and CBC legacy systems (i.e. VIP or Local Payroll) would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of foreign exchange operations as it applies to purchasing foreign currencies and to recording accounting transactions
  • Basic knowledge of short-term investments as it applies to purchasing treasury bills and to recording accounting transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively under daily deadlines.
  • Ability to work comfortably and efficiently with senior management and personnel from financial institutions.
  • Must be capable of working independently and effectively as a team member.
