Host – Espace musique (Manitoba) – REG00191

Do you dream of being a Radio de Radio-Canada host in Regina, the provincial capital of Saskatchewan? Here’s our proposal!

CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada’s national public broadcaster and one of its largest cultural institutions. Each day, CBC/Radio-Canada informs, enlightens and entertains in French, English and eight Aboriginal languages. In addition, Radio Canada International airs programming around the globe in French, English and five other languages.

Radio-Canada’s music radio network Espace musique is currently expanding to serve its listeners across Canada. We’re looking for two radio hosts to work in the Regina area.

You will be required to host a daily musical program on which you will share with listeners many hidden gems from the world of chanson, jazz and world music. As a host, you have great passion and are comfortable on the air. Your credibility and knowledge of the region will help you guide listeners by recommending cultural/musical events and activities in their area.

Please note that these jobs are assigned to our Regina office.

You will be reporting to the French Services Manager.

Approximately 10-month contract position (renewable for 12-month periods).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent;
  • Five (5) years’ on-air experience, or equivalent;
  • Comfortable with a live mike, and speaking in public;
  • Solid command of French (both spoken and written);
  • Good knowledge of English (both spoken and written);
  • In-depth musical knowledge, especially chanson, jazz and world music;
  • Good knowledge of the music industry;
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, Espace musique and CBC/Radio-Canada;
  • Very good knowledge of your region and local cultural/musical events;
  • Very well-rounded;
  • Good knowledge of emerging consumer and music-distribution platforms.

Candidates may be subject to skills testing.
