When did the International Academy of Design & Technology start doing a Masters program?
George can see Russia from his Blackberry.
I am doing my Masters paper on CBC’s The Hour because I think its a very important show for our apathetic youth of today, and can be used to teach critical media analysis. Going after his appearance? Well, that is a little immature. He never calls himself a journalist, so what is the big deal, kids? I think The Hour is accessible, entertaining and critical of an oppressive, conservative government. Majority of its audience falls between the ages 19 – 49 years old. I think the show serves its purpose.
You and 99,999 other folks, Dwight.
I can’t say he hasn’t found an audience. I’ve been watching and downloading.
you “toe” a party line… you don’t “tow” it behind you…
Wow this is all so very, very, very helpful for the CBC and its future.
You are all heroes! Heroes!
Unsubstantiated rumour: He’ll moving to a national morning commercial radio show by next spring, aimed at the demo he knows.
George needs Corus, and they need him.
Cheap shots aren’t helpful. The real issue is that The Hour, despite best efforts and heavy promo spending, has not found an audience. This is likely because there are so many other places on the dial to find somoene flattering celebrities. If George is a CBC talent then redeploy him somewhere … and if he insists on continuing to do “bits”, then hire him some real writers.
I think this is called eating our young.
Let’s lay off picking on each other. There are enough noble causes to pursue without slamming talented on-air personalities within CBC ranks.
And not to mention a non-anglo name and background.
He’s Ukrainian despite having a Greek(ish) surname.
This can be applied to Jian! and some of the (very) lesser lights being hired for the drive-to-fro hours on radio.
He is definitely looking for another gig if you listen to his weekend radio show, and when the economy starts up again, the Privates will start up a new Greek-oration/Uke-dance-simultaneously Idol contest show for him to host.
The new Mulroney “beard” doesn’t fool anyone.
It’s only an Hour and the bookers do all the work, until the next Lockout/Strike. So his skills technically are in radio.
I would have agreed with you the first year of The Hour, but recently George has really held his own. His “look” might become a bit transparent when he’s in his 40’s, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he evolves.
I’d argue that his interviews are among some of the finest in Canadian entertainment. He’s a thousand times better than Bullard or Benmurgi.
And it’s not like he’s in line for Mansbridge’s job.
A better comparison might be Sarah Palin and Jian Gomeshi.
OMG!!!! The next Governor General!
