We are looking for a reporter/editor to join our French services newsgathering team based in Edmonton. You will perform daily research, editing, gathering, writing and coordination of information for French services. In addition to your responsibilities as a reporter/editor, you will provide daily support to the assignment process as well as edit news content for the web.

You will work in a high pressure environment, where timelines are tight and work requires collaboration and consultation with other members of staff. Your work is governed by CBC’s Journalistic Policies and Standards.

As the successful candidate for this position, you will have the following:

  • Three years experience in journalism
  • Mastery of the French language (written and spoken) and a good ability to function in English as well
  • The ability to work quickly, under pressure, to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent writing, technical and on-air skills.
  • Clearly demonstrated reliability and organizational skills.
  • A mature, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Initiative, flexibility, creativity and curiosity
  • An excellent ability to both work alone and to contribute to the team.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and try tasks outside of your normal range of work.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport

Candidates will be required to complete a series of tests (general knowledge, editing, etc.)
