What You Do:
As a Producer, you will help plan, conceive, organize, and/or develop content for CBC News. You will do so with appropriate direction from one or more Senior Producers. This position typically performs the assignment for The National. All work must adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices. In this position there is a requirement to co-ordinate the work of others. While this position is television-focused, you should be comfortable dealing with online elements.
What You Bring:
- A university degree or equivalent with particular emphasis on Journalism, Political Science and /or national or international affairs.
- Job requires five years’ experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment.
- Solid journalistic skills, including the ability to assist in investigative projects
- Ability to research, propose and embrace the very latest television production methods and presentation ideas.
- The ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, tight-deadline environment
- The ability to work constructively with anchors, reporters, producers and other members of the CBC News team
- Knowledge of CBC and CBC News Network programs and mandates and CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Available to work overtime and weekends as required
- Open to new ideas and approaches
- Must be a creative thinker with a flair for developing new, exciting ways to treat and cover stories
