What you do:
French News in Ontario is looking for a producer, assigned as Field Producer principally for RDI and based in Toronto, who will oversee effective daily news coverage. You will plan, conceive, organize, and/or develop the production and realization of live and recorded interviews and program segments. This will include work for newsgathering as well as for local and national programming.
You will work in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines. Your success in this environment will rely on working collaboratively and in consultation with other members of the team. Work must adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices and the Producer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. Nevertheless, there is wide latitude for initiative, independent judgment and creativity. There is a regular and ongoing requirement to co-ordinate the work of others.
What you bring:
- University degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, Political Science or related fields
- Five years’ experience (including three in broadcasting) directly related to producing
- Thorough knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Good knowledge of radio production and presentation methods.
- Knowledge of the latest recording and editing technology in use at CBC/Radio-Canada
- Familiarity with computers
- Advanced knowledge of culture, society, political and economic life in Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area
- Fluency in French and working knowledge of English.
- Valid driver’s license and passport
- Proven team leadership skills, able to oversee, perform and delegate duties
- Sound editorial judgment
- Excellent team player, very good interpersonal skills
- Resourceful and possessing initative
- Good general knowledge (e.g., politics, the economy, urban affairs, culture, arts and entertainment)
- Well organized, able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
