The French television in the Atlantic region is looking for a Videojournalist for the Bathurst area in New Brunswick. Under the general direction of the Information Manager, you operate independently, or as part of a program unit to research, gather, package and, when required, present material for television. Advice and guidance are regularly available but there is latitude for initiative and independent judgement. Close co-operation with the program unit is essential. We’re looking for a skilled storyteller and shooter. As the successful candidate you will also be a creative thinker who brings original ideas and treatments to the news bulletin. You should be able to travel and must be comfortable appearing on-air if required. You should be comfortable producing and shooting your own items. Work is governed by CBC journalistic and programming policies and standards.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • The job requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from University plus three years of practical and relevant experience.
    Pertinent experience in reports preparation and delivery.
  • Notions in camera work and editing.
  • A more elaborate technical formation will be provided later.
  • Aptitude in learning new technologies ( informatics, camera and editing).
  • Good knowledge of the running of a newsroom and editorial practices.
  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada mandate and its journalistic policies.
  • Knowledge of the Atlantic Region and its political, economical, social and cultural issues, especially New Brunswick.
  • Must be able to work by himself.
  • Demonstrate initiative and resourcefullness.
  • Dynamic and good manners with people.
  • Interpersonnal relations and communication skills.
  • Aptitude in planning, organizing and coordination of daily tasks in order to meet deadlines; must be able to work under pressure.
  • Daring, creative and curious in gathering information.
  • Knowledge of I News, program used at CBC/Radio-Canada, would be an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of (written and spoken) French and a very good knowledge of English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Candidates could have to go through testing (General knowledge, writting, etc.)
