Following a recent organizational restructuring, and the re-allocation of existing resources, the Regulatory portfolio of CBC/Radio-Canada is currently seeking a Director of Economics.
Your Role:
- Reporting to the Vice President, Media Technology & Chief Regulatory Officer, the Director of Economics initiates and develops policy and economic positions and strategies essential for the work of the Corporation in the context of both broadcasting and telecommunications.
- The Director responds to proceedings before the CRTC and government, and advances the Corporation’s own initiatives with its diverse stakeholders.
- The proposed positions and strategies form the basis of all CBC/Radio-Canada’s submissions to the CRTC in respect of license renewals, regulatory frameworks for the industry, new service offerings, and the usage of new technologies for the offering of their services.
- In the role of strategic advisor to Senior Management, your expertise and counsel will be sought on all matters relating to economic and policy positions that support and advance the Corporation’s operating strategies.
Your Profile
- University degree in Economics or a similar field;
- A minimum of 10 or more years related experience in the areas of economics business or industrial economics or econometrics;
- Experience in any of the following: competition and regulatory economics, strategy, business planning, costing and pricing; application of economic theory to the development and evaluation of public and regulatory policy; economic impact assessment;
- Knowledge of the economics and policy basis for regulatory models in Canadian broadcasting and telecommunications;
- Knowledge of the CRTC’s regulatory processes and rules;
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada an asset;
- Have an exceptionally high level of interpersonal skills of persuasion and negotiation in dealing and building relationships with internal management and external organizations;
- Bilingual capabilities would be considered an asset (French and English).
