What’s the role:

  • As a Reporter Editor, your primary objective is to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for radio, television and the web.
  • You will develop and maintain contact with a variety of sources as well as work in close co-operation with your program unit.
  • You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of facts and information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts, and program content.
  • You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station.

What you bring:

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • A university undergraduate degree along with reporting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • The ability to work quickly, under pressure, to meet deadlines.
  • A demonstrated interest in the social, political and cultural life of northern Canada.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, technical and on-air presentation skills.
  • Clearly demonstrated reliability.
  • A mature, enthusiastic and positive attitude, and an excellent ability to contribute to a team environment.
  • Initiative, flexibility, creativity and curiosity.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and try tasks outside of your normal range of work.
