As a Reporter Editor, your primary objective is to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for television or other media in both English and Inuktitut. This will require you to develop and maintain contact with a variety of sources as well as work in close co-operation with your program unit. You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of facts and information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts, and program content. You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • A high level of fluency in both English and Inuktitut.
  • A high school education or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
  • An aptitude for working with computers and technical equipment.
  • A personality and presentation suited to journalistic work.
  • A strong interest and potential to develop skills to analyze information, organize it and present it clearly.
  • An ability to work quickly under pressure to meet deadline.
  • A demonstrated interest in the social, political and cultural life of Nunavut, the North and Canada
