Senior Web Designer – TOR02599

Working with other members of the Creative team, you will be assigned to design prototypes and online creative concepts for CBC.ca, ensuring they are in line with the brand, the needs of the end-user, and the business strategy and objectives of the client.

The ideal candidate is a design thinker and craftsperson, and is able to thoughtfully contribute in a team environment during a project’s user research and concept development phases, and is passionate about expressing interactions in visual form through clear and creative interfaces.

The responsibilities of this position will vary depending on the project, but the candidate should be comfortable participating in all parts of the user-centered design process and with creating deliverables at varying levels of fidelity: from quickly communicating a concept’s value proposition to final artwork and specifications delivered to a developer.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with information architects to develop design requirements / user interface specifications including user profiles, scenarios, process flow diagrams, wireframes
  • Confidently estimate resource requirements and scheduling for all projects
  • Produce layouts and interface design elements that clearly reflect the goals and concepts of the creative team
  • Provide constructive positive feedback to team members
  • Work closely with the creative manager, information architects, designers, project management and development teams
  • Manage change control throughout design project execution
  • Develop, reinforce, and drive creative process through the design phase
  • Focus on user-centred experience design to improve quality.

What you bring:

  • Minimum three to five years experience and demonstrated expertise in new media design and production
  • University degree in an arts/design-related field
  • Understanding of grid design and page layout
  • Knowledge of various prototyping methods and how to apply them
  • A background in interaction design
  • Understanding of information architecture
  • Have used or implemented a variety of techniques for solving interaction design problems
  • Experience in user-centred design techniques
  • Understanding of heuristics and usability testing processes
  • Ability to translate business requirements documents into design briefs/specifications
  • Knowledge of practical benefits and limitations of relevant technologies
  • Complete command of graphic authoring software such as Adobe Creative Suite
