CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada’s national public broadcaster and one of its largest cultural institutions. CBC/Radio-Canada brings diverse regional and cultural perspectives into the daily lives of Canadians in English, French, and eight Aboriginal languages.
Reporting to the Director, IT Architecture, you will be responsible for IT activities pertaining to the analysis, development and implementation of network and security architecture, ensuring an effective integration with corporate and business priorities and objectives.
This will involve making sure that the CBC/Radio-Canada Technology Strategy Board’s objectives are achieved in a responsive, cost-effective and efficient manner.
The mandate of this position is to protect CBC/Radio-Canada’s corporate information in electronic form and its technology infrastructure from unauthorized disclosure, transfer, modification or destruction, whether accidental or intentional. Technology infrastructure includes all voice/data/audio/video networks, servers, PCs, Web servers, and external connections to the IT network.
In collaboration with other groups, your pragmatic judgment will allow you to develop standards, guidelines and policies in the area of IT security.
You will assist with the development of key processes for ensuring appropriate security in all corporate-wide Technology services and that require the involvement of all Technology components, such as processes related to granting access to systems and facilities. You will also monitor compliance of key processes by all of Technology.
As an architecture expert, you will consult and advise on security measures for IT-supported corporate applications, liaising between IT project teams and application owners to ensure that appropriate security measures are in place to achieve the desired level of system availability and data integrity for production areas.
Finally, your leadership skills will be required in applying and managing processes related to implementing security measures, ongoing monitoring and reporting, education of users, taking corrective action, and managing the response to security breaches.
The ideal candidate should have the following:
- University degree in computer science or equivalent experience;
- Knowledge of security administration, ISO security standards, and risk management; CISSP certification required;
- Five to eight years’ experience as an information security architect, including policy and process development, as well as security software and risk management issues;
- Working knowledge of Windows, Unix, Linux, Internet protocols, and networks;
In-depth knowledge of application and telecommunications development methodologies; - Able to keep up with new technologies and evaluate their importance to and impact on operations;
- Able to keep up with the latest technologies and trends applicable to broadcasting;
- Able to cope with frequent interruptions, deadlines, and scheduling pressures;
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and effectively with the user community and senior management;
- Fluent in English and French (both spoken and written);
- Knowledge of current CBC/Radio-Canada application systems an asset.
