CBC/Radio Canada EnglishTelevision is seeking a video journalist to be an integral part of the Television News team based in Edmonton. We’re looking for a skilled storyteller and shooter to fill this role. The successful candidate will also be a creative thinker who brings original ideas and treatments to the show.
Under the general direction of the Executive Producer or delegate, you will operate independently, or as part of a program unit to research, gather, package and present material for television programs. You may also be asked to file stories for radio and/or CBC.ca. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, often independently and without frequent supervision.
The successful candidate for this position will have the following:
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from University plus three years of practical and relevant experience, or graduation from Community College plus five years of practical and relevant experience.
Solid storytelling skills. - Comfortable and dynamic on-air presence.
- Excellent interviewing skills.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Ability to generate original story ideas and creative treatments
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, tight deadline environment, often in unexpected overtime situations.
- Flexibility to work regularly for radio and/or the web.
- Valid driver’s license, passport and ability to travel.
- Relevent experience in shooting and editing.
- Creative problem solver.
- Highly creative imaginative and motivated self-starter.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
