Reporting to the Manger, Media Operations & Technology, you will perform tasks as a specialist in production, contributing creatively to programming by frequently composing distinctive visuals within the scope and time constraints of the program. Throughout your work you will work primarily in news, sports and current affairs.

The successful candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in television arts, or equivalent industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of television program production and post-production methods.
  • Microwave and SNG experience is an asset.
  • Three years of specialized experience in the news field or remote broadcasting
  • An excellent level of technical knowledge and understanding of daily television program production methods including understanding picture composition and single camera lighting
  • Ability to edit using tape to tape A25 SX editing system and AVID Newscutter – Express laptop is an asset.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, and initiative
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with studio cameras and LIVE television
  • Daily news experience is essential
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required.

As part of your application, a demo reel of no longer than 15 minutes is required. The reel should demonstrate your videography skills as well as reflect your newsgathering instincts and creativity.

The reel ideally should include, but is not limited to:

  • complete news stories
  • a feature interview (on tri-pod) with re-asks
  • a hand-held "follow-the-puck" interview
  • some examples of creative use of lighting
  • some examples of sequencing
  • some examples of capturing actuality, breaking news
  • hand-held photography, including walking shots, scrums, etc.
  • a variety of stand-ups, shot indoor and out, day and night.
  • and finally, please include a news item that you both shot and edited
