Producer:

  • On a daily basis, responsible for producing Radio-Canada Saskatchewan’s morning show and other programming in accordance with CBC journalistic standards and policies.
  • Responsible for leading and implementing the ongoing development of Radio-Canada Saskatchewan’s morning show under the direction of the Executive Producer and as designated by the Director, French Services in Saskatchewan.
  • Motivates staff to do great work.
  • Plans, co-ordinates, and crafts a topical show with a variety of texture and tone, that reflects life in Saskatchewan. This includes assigning and researching stories, writing and/or editing scripts.
  • Works with other departments in CBC to ensure efficient and coordinated news and current affairs coverage on a daily basis.
  • Monitors the news and issues of the day and works with the news desk, and other current affairs producers.
  • Contributes ideas and creative treatments on stories and programming ideas.
  • Works with program contributors and columnists to ensure strong execution of items, and develops new contributors/columnists.
  • Provides daily feedback to the programming unit and looks for potential improvements.
  • Responsible for a show budget and other special projects as directed.
  • Plans and organizes remotes.

We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications:

  • At least three years experience in broadcasting or a closely related industry which is directly related to the area of assignment
  • At least five years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain close collaboration with program unit;
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly creative and resourceful;
  • A passion for storytelling and a significant understanding of Saskatchewan’s diverse communities.
  • Drivers licence is necessary

This position will not be filled until consideration has been made by the CBC/CMG Local Joint Employment.
