As a Videographer, your prime focus is to contribute creatively to television programming by composing distinctive visuals within the scope and time constraints of the program. In Iqaluit you will be part of the CBC North Team. The North is a politically and culturally vibrant place. Your work will contribute to the sharing of stories from the North to the North, the rest of Canada and the world.

You demonstrate success in your role by effectively ensuring that both visual and aural material meets technical and aesthetic requirements for editing. This requires that you regularly prepare, align and set up field cameras, ensuring optimum visual and technical quality, as well as light the subject or scene, compose and record program material using a hand-held camera. You are capable of performing simple maintenance of equipment. On occasion, you are required to ask scripted questions of subjects you are recording.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Community college graduation in television arts, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Three years of specialized experience in the news field or remote broadcasting.
  • Experience editing material using the AVID suite of editing software.
  • An excellent level of technical knowledge.
  • An understanding of daily television program production methods.
  • Initiative, mature judgement, and the capability to take independant action.
  • The ability to work under high pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • The ability to drive a motor vehicle and in possession of a valid drivers license.
