All my life, I’ve dreamed of becoming a content provider

There comes a particularly sad moment in the amateur video shot by Maffin and referred to in the Link Farm to your right.
It happens at one minute and five seconds into the piece when the kindly John Michel utters the words …
“as we move forward to being a content driven company …”
He is of course merely parroting the new jive talk that is coming into use at the CBC, as dictated to him from on high. That would be from Mr. Tomorrow, Richard Stursberg.

Forget everything you’ve ever heard about the mission/mandate/reason for existence of the CBC.
In this modern digital age we live in, all of its work can now be summed up, indeed relegated and diminished, to just one word, “content”.

The basic idea behind Newspeak is to remove all shades of meaning from language, leaving simple dichotomies (pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness, goodthink and crimethink) which reinforce the total dominance of the State.

I thought I was the only one who felt creeped out by Znaimer. A poseur indeed! Unfortunately the biz attracts a lot of folks just like him. Talented people in the biz are repulsed by his type and generally move on to …. real estate sales!
