They offered me the office, offered me the shop. They said I'd better take anything they'd got. Do you wanna make tea at the CBC? Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?
What, ultimately, were the consequences of this terrifically embarassing episode? The whole country got to watch a senior executive engage in disingenuous and craven blame shifting. Was there disciplinary action? Was anyone fired? Hubert, this does very serious damage to what little is left of the Corporation’s credibility. What’s that? Nobody cares? Oh right.
Since when did the CBC pay for its own programming? The standard broadcast fee for any of the shows cancelled by the CBC would be less than six figures, so what’s the problem? Fire a few of your real estate agents or suspend Dick’s expense account – the only problem the CBC has with its budget is how to spend so much money every year.

Crazy! now if anyone outside of Toronto cared about the Leafs… JPOD is more entertaining than hockey anyway!
Weirdest aspect of the whole story I’ve yet to see. It makes a certain amount of sense, I suppose, but it still seems weird.
There’s only so much “Blame Toronto!” a guy can be encouraged to practice, after all…

Spinning out of control.
